Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on court had led some to question if his skill to play at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent saved four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
